Barbara Jackman's lecture on the importance of the Supreme Court's 1985 Singh decision on refugees and Canada's refugee determination system. The Supreme Court found that the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects the fundamental rights of refugees and refugee claimants and that refugee determination must respect the principles of fundamental justice.
Since this decision, refugee claimants in Canada are entitled to an oral hearing before an independent decision maker, before the Immigration and Refugee Board. They are able to tell their story face-to-face to a real person.

@supasonicman
You are absolutely right. Organizations like these are opposing immigration reform, and are allowing Tamil Tigers and others to enter and stay in Canada. And Muslims are taking advantage of useful idiots like these multiplying like mosquitoes in an attempt to take over democratic countries, while talking about how much they hate Canada. Families like the Khadr family, milking the welfare system for all they can. They give CCR an agenda and a purpose. Disgusting.

These ladies is stupid. It is as if refugees have a right to be in this country, no they don't. Why are these people so special just because they showed up at out doorstep. Some crazy bat lady wins a supreme court decision based upon a minute wording of The Charter and now the taxpayer inherits the unbelievable costs associated. Gee Thanks lady!
