@jason0261 Replying kinda late, and u probily have the answer, but its so they have less resistance in the water, its supposed to make them glide more because the suits are supposed to resist water, in theory, making them faster.

@twinkie2082 yeah the 500m free is the longest race we have. my coach usually makes me swim the 500m free, 100m back, 200 medaly back position, and the 400 free medaly.

@twinkie2082 i'm on my high school's swim team in US, Florida. out of the races you listed the only ones we have in America are the 50m, 100m, and the 200m. we also have the 500 here. i do not know the races in Canada, Japan or any other place for that matter. what i do know is the races in my own country, were the 500m is the longest race we have.
