@EtherealOhitoyoshi abuse on a living being is abuse on a living being .. doesnt matter what "kind of" living being it is. Just because the humans think they are "different" doesnt mean, they are really different. living being is living being and should be respected as that!

@Mrsmaynard2009 What you just explained is called morality and it is only true on a culture by culture basis. For example I could name a number of countries in which it is perfectly accepted to eat snake, cat, guinea pigs and dogs even while some of its inhabitants might prefer them as pets.

Some people do hurt animals and then turn to people, however, most only hurt animals as a way to prevent themselves from hurting people. Regardless of who compared child and animal abuse, they are WRONG.

@EtherealOhitoyoshi We are inclined to protect those who are incapable of protecting themselves. Humans created dogs and other domesticated animals. It is just as cruel to torture innocent creatures as a child. We domesticated them and took away their natural ability to survive on their own. American Humane had repeatedly recognizes the link between animal abuse and child abuse/violence. Would you rather someone beat and kill an animal, and move on to hurt and kill a child?

bullshit doing that to a child and to a dog isn't the same thing...... we are biologically predisposed to protect our young (even if there are some anomalies) but we aren't predisposed to like dogs, that's a cultural/environment thing that can be taught but isn't primary.
