  • @Doukatas26 "Immortals" was disappointing. I plan to write the true story about it with help of a Greek friend of mine. I believe in doing myths justice, not saying poetic license is bad, yet deviating too far from a myth is not good. Had it been more true to the story of Theseus, it would've probably have gotten more better reviews.

  • @HistoryLover1550 i am a Greek grown and living in America. sadly i see sometimes Hollywood Directors trying to put a myth into a movie and ends up disaster. I was curious to see the new Immortals movie and i regret the time i spend in the theater watching that crap. Yes 1997 Odyssey was a good movie i must say. Troy was not bad compere to other "myth" things taken and become movies. But that Immortal thing... omg.... omg omg....way far from the Myths way far from everything

  • @luis1969275 Ikr! When I first saw the film "Troy" I thought the epic it was based off of would be the same. When I checked out "The Iliad" from the library I was shocked to see it was nothing like the film! I found the poem more interesting than the movie too. I understand that the film couldn't tell the ENTIRE story of the Trojan war, being a Hollywood film. If it were a tv series, maybe it could've been more accurate and all te characters introduced. Hollywood needs a wake up call!

  • @luis1969275 I LOVED the 1997 "Odyssey" movie. American made films always mess up good stories where foreign films hardly ever do. Though Im an American, I like to be true to the myths and histories of other countries. America really does dishonor and screw up the truth of epic mythic stories. If I were writing the scripts, i would rarely deviate from the true myth, I promis you that. Hollywood directors need to get a fucking clue!

  • @luis1969275 I couldn't agree more, if only Hollywood would stick with the truth of a story and not FUCK it up then more people would be interested in seeing the movies based off them. I understand with mythic stories that you've the freedom to re-tell them, yet it should be kept at a minimum in my opinion.

  • @luis1969275 Exactly! No wonder these bullshit movies based off great myths and literature get such bad reviews. If Hollywood doesn't get a clue more great stories will get fucked up. Next thing you know we'll have a lame film on the epic of Gilgamesh, Sinuhe, etc. Sometimes i feel like I want to sue and knock some sense into Hollywood's THICK head!

  • Many times what I hear from people looking at historical movies is "WOW look at that effect, whoa how cool they did this or that..." Most could say a very well 88% of people who see their historical/mythological movies they care less for the real story but put more interest on the "actor" than on the role or the message behind. Almost never we see someone who really looks at a movie and actually compares it with the real story these days, then the so-called "critics" does not even do that.

  • @HistoryLover1550 That is why I say Hollywood is manipulating. Because many artists, producers, etc might know literature but they do so little as well to stop the manipulation of true literature. Too many monetary interests behind. "A lie said a thousand times becomes a truth"... for them ignorance = money. Is all what they care about. This is why I never go to cinemas nor I care about seeing their movies. I consider them a total brain wash.

  • @HistoryLover1550 .. Hollywood's problem in creating truthful films is deeper than what we think. It goes to the "offer-demand" theory. The so little emphasys or interest in real literature in our school system these days makes a lot of contribution to the ignorance behind all of this. So when kids and adults look at these films their minds are clouded with so much ignorance because they have never read the true story or research them, that they believe what they are seeing was true.

  • @luis1969275 Ikr! Totally ridiculous! Hollywood totally fucks up most mythic/historical stories! If I were writing or directing for Hollywood, I could do TOTALLY better than what these lame films have done. Im a writer and I know how to tell stories well.
