Rangers ran out convincing winners at Easter Road despite a determined performance from Hibs in an entertaining match. Mark Hateley gave Rangers a half-time lead with a well finished goal before three goals in three minutes looked to have sealed the match for Rangers. Pat McGinlay equalised but Trevor Steven put Rangers ahead from the resulting kick-off while Hateley then powered in a header for his second goal. Darren Jackson eventually scored to set-up a tense finish but Ally McCoist scored from a Pieter Huistra assist and that was enough despite a second goal for McGinaly in the last minute.
