  • the intro from the 777 album

    in rock

    was never played live,

    this comes closest.

    why?

  • @SUPERMANfromMETROPOL I was wandering the same, I think there is a BBC recording with short intro but

they did some changes in their live act, the same for the Solo in Child In Time, Jon Lord took over of the brilliant guitar solo that we find on the album. The short solo before Ritchie bursts in to the longer awesome solo.

  • This is NOT Deep Purple. LOL

  • Realy :-)

  • The footage is from the same show a year later, its more interesting this way.

  • Deep Purple Speed King live very very rare early version

  • Deep Purple are larger than life, and his direct, more. Heavy Metal and Hard Rock in its purest form, its size, power and genius never surpassed by its own subsequent attempts Purple, Deep Purple sounded like a well oiled machine, tuning and performing at 200%

  • AMAZING!!!

  • Obviously they didn't know the song very well yet. Gillian only had about 4 lines that he kept repeating and not singing "I'm a Speed King" during the chorus, so it probably wasn't even named yet. When he first joined they were doing Mark I songs (Mandrake Root, Hush). I heard the first song worked on with Gillian was Child in Time.

  • I myself can live without the intro to Speed King.. with the band blazing off and Ian being up in your face all at once from the start suited the song better.

  • Yes, sound from official 1969 Montreux live CD, but added more delay yet. Why?

  • HOW COULD A TRUE FAN OF DEEP PURPLE DIDN'T KNOW IAN GILLAN VOICE ?????? THIS TRUE DEEP PURPLE, THIS IS MARK II,

THIS IS THE GREATEST HARDROCK BAND

  • Live at casino Montraux 1969

  • @myroseaccount It´s Deep Purple. Ian voice, Ludwig vintage druma of Paice. Ian scream when the lyrics is not finished. The sounds is great 1969?

  • Ian Paice drops a stick at 00.8 seconds.

  • @myroseaccount why you think it isnt?

  • @Dimagg1973 i agree. i was attending concerts in 1970 both in the in rock tour and in the paranoid tour. Deep Purple were very different live from the records, the Black Sabbath concerts were at that time very equivalent with the records, black sabbath and paranoid. but i am very much a fan of the original "in rock"-intro to speed king, so i was missing a concert-version of that, both back then, and at 100+ deep purple concerts later
