Sabayon Linux 5.0 -five-point-ooh!- gnome 64bit version was recorded using xvidcap.

Check out http://www.comp-crazy.blogspot.com/ for things I talk about mostly Linux releated.

a few notes about Sabayon 5.0,
So far I like 4.2 more, 5.0 does not seam ready yet however this all could change soon.
many things are slower then in 4.2 esp. compiz. sulfur is awlays slow...

it took me about 15 minutes to do a fresh install over Sabayon 4.2 alongside windows 7 64bit.

boot time after the initial boot was around 25 seconds to the log in screen, and 10 seconds after that to a fully loaded desktop.

Ram usage while inactive and no compiz, ~300 megabytes

Ram usage while inactive and with compiz and emerald theme manager, ~450 megabytes

thanks for watching and yes I know I suck at chess ;-)

If you would like to see more then message me about what you want to see and I will post it.

  • its more gnome then anything else. Ubuntu and sabayon are very different underneath. I'm back to sabayon 5.2 now and I will upload a new video showing it off. I'm going to try to make it my best vid yet.

  • @acrazyplayer0

Dude, what is the music playing to this???? It's got a christmas touch then changes up and back again... I'm loving it ahahaha

I put Sabayon 5.2 on a comp earlier and the thing is freakin sweet ( KDE by the way )

I'm planning to put a machine with Linux Mint onto it *With Gnome* ( the thing driving me to putting all the machines to Sabayon is simply because its a Rolling Release )

Let me know about this song, and maybe some extra info on Gnome of Sabayon if u have any, thx

  • @TheMusicMan2K yeah I like this music too however I think I found all the good ones on youtubes "audioswap" because my last video I couldnt find a song I really liked. Anyway its by musicshake and to be honest I cannot remember the name. They have way too many with names that mostly mean noting to the song. hmmm about gnome...have you tried typing in "sudo gnome-shell --replace" in a terminal? if not then by all means feel free, its preinstalled and gives you a look at the future of gnome.

  • linux pwns at some stuff

its good for dual booting, which they make very simple.

linux is a good partition to surf with, virus free, plenty of cool effects. I find using linux cds when (notice, the when XD) windows messes up, u have a way to access and retrieve files without removing hd,

sabayon is beautiful, great team behind it, italian i believe, though sabayon (the food) sounds nasty, the os looks nice

  • @RealNeurotiq, lol @ the food part. yeah Sabayon is a nice looking stable OS. I wish I knew about Linux a few years ago then I could have switched a lot more people to it before they came completely dependent on Windows...oh well.

  • I don't really have to be sold on Sabayon, I love it. The only problem I have is printing. Is there some place I can go to get printer drivers. I have two printer with no drivers for ether of them to work in linux. Man! Once linux crosses that hurdle I'll officially dump windows but for now I still need to print.

  • to be honest I have never used a printer in linux so I cant be of any help to you. the only thing I can suggest is trying in some forums but im guessing you already have. good luck

  • I am deciding on KDE edition or Gnome Edition, I already ruled out xfce. But the gnome looks like everything I want in customization and more. It is hard to decide, I guess I'll download both of them.XD
