  • Thanks for the comment, louisamayc. I'm a lifelong San Franciscan but I've never been on the island, unfortunately. As I'm sure you know some of the surviving buildings can be seen from SF's Embarcadero area. I'm glad you enjoyed the footage. :-)

  • Thank you for posting this. It looks like it was a beautiful fair. Also people dressed up in those days when they went out in public.

  • At the same time the Bay Bridges and the Golden Gate Bridge was built, along with the Broadway tunnel to Walnut Creek, then all the fair buildings built on an island dredged from the bottom of the bay. How long has it taken to build the new Oakland side of the Bay Bridge, and with all the modern construction techniques?

  • I live on Treasure Island, and I find this video from 1939 very nice....I like to watch it, and try to figure out what is still here on the Island...the Island was very beautiful then, and now....Thanks for the video.
