  • dbj1976, you're absolutely right about the card on the left side of the piano--that's the order of the songs he's playing--not the lyrics! And as far as a teleprompter, I don't know, but it would be normal for him to have one. I've seen the best of the best use them--Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, etc. Anyway, if he did use one, it'd be located on his right side, on the ground and I've NEVER seen him forget a single word and look down there to find his place. He's simply the best!

  • if he did use a prompter, who could blame him at his age with all the songs he's written? that said, i don't think i've ever seen him appear to forget any words or music.

  • It is ther eits a moniter edge of the stage, where he usually places them.

  • Elton always has a teleprompter. And he actually frequently forgets the odd word! I've never heard him make a single mistake on the piano though, but it could be masked well...I dunno... Either way, hes a legend!

  • Look it's entirely possible that it's a teleprompter. It's quite common for long established acts to have one so they don't forget the words. I saw Billy Joel in concert last year and from where I was sitting, I could see his teleprompter.

But like dbj1976 said, even if it is a teleprompter, so what? He is human you know...

  • That's not a teleprompter - that's the reflection of those lights at the back of the stage. There's nothing there but shiny black piano with reflections. *ROLLING MY EYES*

  • As for the card on the left side of his piano, I believe it is a list of the order of the songs in his set. Look at the man play, and think to yourself, which is harder, to remember the lyrics or to remember all the chords and notes to the songs? Why would he need a prompter for songs he's sung probably hundreds of times, and especially when he has such a phenomenal memory of how to play all those songs? Even if it was a teleprompter, what would it mean, that he's actually human? EJ rocks.

  • I saw the display on the right side of the screen at 2:15, but the angle and position of it is such that I don't believe it is a teleprompter for Elton. Why turn it at a 45 degree angle to him and put it at his kneecaps?? If you look closely below the words of the song that display on the screen in another language, you can see words of the song in English beneath it, even during camera shots other than on Elton.

  • 40+ albums, two musicals... i'm sure you couldn't remember the lyrics all of the time, either. for all he does for AIDS, cut him some slack.
