The entire tax debate is missing a crucial element that hardly anyone talks about. We hear all the time from President Obama and congress persons like Debbie Wasserman Schultz about how the rich don't pay enough in taxes, but the fact is, they do. While some may pay less of a percentage, most all pay way more in dollar amounts than you or I, way more.

Since Mitt Romney is running for president and is the left's favorite punching bag, let's use him as an example of how the rich pay way too much in taxes. The president, democratic members of congress and the media always talk percentages in taxes but never really get down to the dollar amount that people are actually paying.

The left likes to complain that Romney only paid 15% in taxes according to his 2010 tax return. We hear he paid $3 million in taxes on $22 million in income. But if you look at the return closely you see that he actually paid 17.5% because you only hear about his gross income and never his taxable income, His taxable income was $17 million, his gross income before deductions was $22 million. Just a little fact the media always leaves out.

But okay liberals, he still only paid 17.5% which is $3 million in taxes. Wait, he only paid $3 MILLION in taxes in 2010. Only $3 million? How much did you pay in taxes last year?

On a $50,000 income at 30%, the number that liberals like to throw out there but no one really pays because of deductions, but let's go with 30%, an individual would pay $15,000 in taxes. And we pay taxes because the government provides things like roads, bridges, space exploration, the Center for Disease Control to find out if we will catch the swine flu, and of course for our military to protect us from bad guys and rogue nations.

Now the $50,000 a year earner pays $15,000 for all those services and Mitt Romney pays $3 million for all those services. Did you get that? Mitt Romney pays 200 time more for the same government services a person making $50k does?

Why exactly are we having this percentage debate about taxes again?

    Owner vs Producer.

Earn less than you produce vs produce more than you earn.

You do not need infrastructure to be poor.

You can be on the bottom in any country.

The owners income comes from the infrastructure their workers use, need, in order to produce surplus which the rich keep. Therefore the rich need more infrastructure than the poor.

Without thousands of healthy, mobile workers Romney could not be a millionaire. He pays taxes to keep those workers relitively healthy and mobile.

Wrong! Romney doesn't pay taxes to keep workers healthy and mobile, that's about the most lame thing I've ever heard! Your health is YOUR responsibility, not someone else's.

It wasn't Romney's responsibility to keep his workers mobile, that is their responsibility. What if they decide to work for someone else, do his personal taxes get lowered because that person quits?

Any use of the infrastructure is paid for when used through gas, tolls, tires, etc.

To be "fair" that is the key. It would be fair to tax them less. But they do make millions more than the average person.

It is not Romneys responsibility to keep his workers healthy etc...

    I did not say that.

I said that Romney profits from healthy mobile workers. They give him his wealth. He relies on them.

Without them he is nothing. Without him, they are in the same position. On the bottom

Seriously read. Not just this. Other things. Books. Heard of them?

And dont be so ANGRY when talking to strangers. Its not polite. Not the sign of a settled contented soul.

Try therapy. Or change your diet... oh wait

Billionaires employ people because every hour that worked sees profit. If a position is not profitable to a company, macro, they will not employ someone to fill it

If a worker is not able to get to work, health, transport, or monetary concerns, that billionaire would not see any profit. Wealth comes because workers turn up to work, the infrastructure allows that. But Romney does not contribute to the upkeep of that infrastructure. Even though his wealth is a product of that infrastructure

Look who's calling stupid. You might want to go look in the mirror and point the finger and make your STUPID comment because there is no talking sense to someone who has no idea about where your tax money goes.

Yes, Eisenstein, GAS TAXES PAY FOR ROADS! Here's the breakdown of the 18.4 cent per gallon federal gas tax:

    Highway Trust Fund – 15.44 Cents/Gallon

    Mass Transit – 2.86 Cents/Gallon

    Leaking Storage – 0.1 Cents/Gallon

I won't be responding any longer to such foolishness. God help us.

No stupid. Gas taxes do not cover the use of the roads. Your assumption that I am a liberal confirms that you are the moron.

"Silly, they don't keep their money, the invest it, and spend it of goods and services, all of which produce jobs, but you knew that didn't."

    ==

Investment counts as savings with little more return and a bit more risk. It creates nothing hire nobody, very little to stimulates the economy.

Spending(consuming) means to move money for merchandise and service that take material and labor.

If you don't agree, please explain to me how investment will boost the economy step by step.
