@12Xenna Actually they do ave the same reed size, thats why Vandoren doesn't sell Contra-alto reeds :D ~Lilio

@godofacez: yeah, the contralto is easier to feed air to, and more similar to playing the bass. The contrabass has a really wide bore (internal diameter) so it has a wider air column in addition to being so much longer. Lots of air. (As a result, the contralto's a bit more nimble for knocking around fast passages, and the contrabass rattles your rib cage.)

@12Xenna as a matter of fact, the same reed can be used on both.

One question I have about the contrabass clarinet is does it take A LOT more air to play than the bass clarinet with medium of La Voz? Because that's what I use bass clarinet medium La Voz I believe they are called and I want to try playing this instrument but I am wondering if I can even get a sound out and is switching to the higher octave even harder like dramatically? I need all of your expertise on this to help me out.

Does a Contra Bass and Contra Alto have the same reed size?

@12Xenna
The best of my knowledge they do not have the same reed size. They are not the same size instruments, same is true for their mouthpieces.
