Diesel Loco No.1 'Amanda' heads the 'Pines Express' away from Common Lane station on the Gartell Light Railway. Note the head-board! This narrow-gauge (2ft) line is situated just south of Templecombe, Somerset. The loco is being driven by the main constructor of the loco, John Uphill, and filmed by his son Michael.
Yes; they plied the Waterloo-Exeter line which is only about a mile or so from the GLR, although this one is more like a 'slim-Jim' due to GLR loading gauge restrictions! Also it is diesel-hydraulic not diesel-electric. It drives all eight wheels, and sounds rather nice. (better than this short vid can show) Do come and see the GLR; it's unique. Incidentally, the Festiniog have done a 'look-a-like' I think it is a '66' - an excellent job. Thanks for your comment - your site looks good, btw!
