@keeelllaaan YouTube was all 240p back then in 2007. I didn't know they were gunna magically upgrade everything later. :-)

thank you for the prompt reply this is extremely helpfull....how much light exactly is needed at minimum for decent video quality???

Normal indoor lighting works okay, but the video will be blurry if there's much movement (because the camera has to use a high exposure). If you want to record in the dark it might be better to get a camcorder with a night-vision mode, but I haven't used one of those myself.
