This is a popular round in both Europe and North America. It's rimless cartridge is designed to approximate the performance of the classic 9.3 x 74R cartridge that earned a great reputation for being able to put game down.

There's a place in Lloydminster, AB, that carries a high stock of the No.1's in limited calibres. "Prophet River Firearms"; that's where I got mine. And they also do a lot of importing with CZ-USA if you fancy a nice European sporting rifle :) Check it out.

  • @KingKoodles it can be tough in Canada on the American limited run guns i know the ruger NO1 in 303 brit sold very well in Canada and i expect in other commonwealth countries ie Australia,UK. my other option is to buy euro made guns but sometimes they are very expensive

  • @PioneerRifleman

Ruger makes rifles in the latter three cartridges you mention. They've also recently released a limited run of the No.1 in 6.5x55. I managed to get my hands on one....you should too ;)

  • Quite a few Husquvarna rifles where chambered in 9.3x62.

  • i want one in a mauser action perhaps a CZ or a Austrian Voere. i wish companies like winchester and browning and ruger more so started making guns in those timeless european cartridges 6.5X55,7X57,303,9.3X62, etc etc

  • the 9.3-62 is a very nice cartridge too shoot if you can handle a 7mm rem mag the 9.3 is about the same, mayby even less felt recoil in a rifle like the cz 550. its not a long range cartridge but out too 600 feet, it will put a moose on the ground better then any of the 300 magnums any day of the week and thats a fact.

  • I shot an original 9.3x62 (probably 1950's) and the recoil was pretty heavy. I want one though!

  • @Gmissile Calibers like the baret or cheytac are overkill for game animals, and the guns they are chambered in are to bulky to take on a african hunt. Cape buffalo and elephant have been taken in the past with 8mm mausers during WW2, Roy Weatherby killed one with one shot from his .257 weatherby. Giant large caliber heavy sniper rifles besides being overkill bullet wise, will most likely only serve to get you killed by a chargin bull. Its hard to off hand a quick shot with a 30-50lb. gun.

  • Too close to the .338-06 A-Square and .35 whelen to suceed in the USA. We already have our medium thumpers.

  • @TheHuntingAgency

Point taken. Thanks for your response.
