  • @Bentheman122 Please read my response to the same question posted by nikeo671. Thanks.

  • what do you feed them?

  • @nikeo671 In the first few months, they were given decapsulated brine shrimp eggs and new life spectrum fry formula. They were also fed live baby brine shrimp, hikari bloodworms, copepods and mosquito larvae. By the 3rd month, I switched them to new life spectrum sinking pellets. During the winter they were fed HBH soft spirulina pellets to help with digestion.

  • @Bentheman122 just feed them hikari tropical first bite or have lots of algae in your tank. when they hatch they will just eat the algae..

  • @huntawunta I feed them hikari first bites, new life spectrum small fry formula and decap brine shrimp eggs minimum 4x a day... and i do change the water everyday probably about 70% im so upset everything was going so good and now they are dying :(

  • @huntawunta its only the ones that are just laying at the bottom of the tank that have died, also few have somehow got stuck in the sponge air pump... ye yesterday I was shocked that so may died i feel like I'm losing them even though some are at the stage urs are at in the vid (these seem to be okay for now). Because its a bit colder in Manchester the tank temp is 72. The fry are 10 days old... shouldn't they all be free swimmers by now?

  • @sweetbutterfly5 The first 3months, you need to feed them at least 4x-6x a day w/ a high protein diet. Then you need to be changing water EVERYDAY since water quality deteriorates fast because of the HUGE bioload of so many fry & waste getting diluted in the water. PS: A belly slider is when a fish w/ tail or body shape deformities barely swims & just slides at the bottom of the tank using his belly. You'll be able to observe this once they are juveniles (1month onwards). Not during Fry stage.

  • @sweetbutterfly5 I don't understand why you have so much die off. There must be something wrong with your water parameters. There shouldn't be that much fry passing away at such an alarmingly fast rate and in BIG quantities. Remember - fry stay at the bottom of the tank the first couple days before they are free swimming and searching for food. Also the tank water should only be about 5-6". And you MUST install an airstone so they have enough oxygen. Temp should be around 75 degrees.

  • @huntawunta Thanks so much for all the info! much appreciated :) i still can't bring myself to kill any but many of the weaker ones have started dying like today i removed 60! i clean the tank everyday and so far i think more than 100 have gone :( will buy the clove oil though because i know that some are suffering... p.s. this might sound stupid but what are belly sliders?
