My father in law is a (retired) shoji door and screen maker in Shizuoka, Japan. At the end of the year he takes in a little work replacing the paper on his old customer's screens. He made the doors and windows you see in this video.

  • I am a woodworker in Colorado, aspiring to do justice to Japanese style projects and I've thoroughly enjoyed watching these! It would be a huge help if you would relabel this series of videos to indicate what sequence you filmed them in, i.e. Part 1, part 2 or 1 of 6, 2 of 6, etc.

    Arigato gozaimasu!

  • @tbone1143 Im just guessing here, but glass is both heavy and hazardous if it breaks, and those panes dont look too sturdy. Big panes of glass are probably alot more expensive than rice paper too. And it sure looks better!
