@jamanesii Your right. Ansel Adams photographs look like paintings. A good photograph says something about the subject from the inside out. Karsh and Adams want say something to the viewer and draw the spectator into the subject.

So, that's why. If you don't know who Ansel Adams is you shouldn't be watching or caring about photography. When you make a painting, you don't just randomly draw and paint a sun, mountains, whatever; you compose the painting and then paint it.
It's the same thing with photography.

Why not look at the LCD after the shot?
You couldn't shoot yourself out of a cardboard box.
