When doing cross grip chokes, the thumb stays out and oxygen and blood flow to the brain are cut off. Use cross grip chokes in combat sports with tips from a martial arts instructor in this free video on jiu-jitsu and judo submission moves and grappling techniques.

  • what do u mean deeper, if u go deeper with the left hand its gonna go inside the shirt thing. btw, im just watching this for some basic knowledge, not a real judo fighter, but i do kickboxing and wrestling, so yea

  • Only one arm is choking. Chokes can be effective with only cutting off one side. It would be different however if both sides weren't deep enough.

  • In Judo it's called Nami-juji-jime cross grip strangle. Deeper your grip the better. Awesome video.

  • whats rondori? and can this choke actually be used in a judo match?

  • Used this choke one time during rondori. Worked like a charm.
