Polls show that 60% of the country likes the president, but, generally (67%) don't like his policies (global warming, over spending, healthcare...). So, instead of ramming the big stuff through 'because it is a crisis', I suggest the administration presents BOTH sides of the argument (not a dem & rep position, but pros & cons), then put important (country changing) policies to a vote.

I'm quite moderate and am tired of people hating repubicans and democrats--we are all FREE Americans.
