Chosing the right pole depends on what type of fish you are fishing for, generally you can catch bass, and catfish from the baitcaster, with the r2f you can catch pretty much any mid sized freshwater fish, and the small rod and reel is strictly used for trout and anything smaller than a trout (bluegill, sucker fish, etc.)
