Please note: Nothing blows down in this video, the strong wind is just steadily blowing from the west. You can see it blowing across the golf course. My feelings won't be hurt if you just watch a little of it because it is basically the same for the whole time.
We live near Montgomery, Texas, north of Galvestong (95 miles) and Houston (45 miles).
This blowing rain is from the outer band rain squalls of Hurricane Ike. Eventually winds were steady at about 80 MPH, these here were probably around 60 MPH.
The tree behind has already been blown down. We live on a hilltop about 95 miles inland so there was no tidal surge or flooding.
The golf course behind our house did have surface water from the rain pretty well covering it from time to time. Here is was holding some water.
We are all OK but have relocated to Katy, Texas, because we are without power from two weeks to over a month (estimate).
I live in East Montgomery County, 27 miles north of downtown Houston & 1 mile north of Houston City Limits. My uncle has one of those windspeed testers and we got a windgust of 107 mph. We are 78 miles inland from Galveston.
