  • hey, I'm looking for a piece for bassoon/viola to play for my senior undergrad recital because my sister plays viola. I was just wondering what your experiences were with this piece and if it's something I should pursue further? My sister is a sophomore undergrad and I'd say she's a pretty good player. Thanks for posting this recording!

Hey, this piece is definitely worth learning. Keep in mind that it is very demanding in all parts. the opening has all this harmonics in the viola which, the bassoon goes up to high 'e' and also the piano has some very tricky passages. BUT we loved performing it. There is a Sonata by Willy Hess (1903-1997) for Vla and Bsn which is also very nice. good luck
