I love the idea of the Public Option in Health Insurance, because it gives people another option, a Non Profit option in where they get their Health Insurance. Their choice, they don't have to take or they can. Their option.

@staaberelli: Ever heard of Medicare? You know, that govt run health care? I have never heard anyone who had a bad experience with Medicare. Medicine for profit is what is causing the high costs. Health care should be a basic human right not a luxury.

@funkyflights Want to know where to start? Lead by example: have the senators give up their life-time health care coverage. As a health professional I believe that you have the right to charge whatever the market bares. If people rose up against these fees, then professionals would lower their costs. I become frustrated by comments that simplify a problem to something as simple as you charge too much. Go to school. Excel. Run up school debt and then lets see if $100 per visit is too much!

The problem is when government runs the healthcare ....new solutions, new ideas, new technologies and new aspects of health care a slowed down due to the slow response government deliberates puts on its budgetary plans and procurement processes. We no longer have excellent health care but adequate health care. We NEED to figure out fast, adequate response time in governement then think about socialized health care!

HEY I love your attitude.... We need more people like you.... I've talked to doctors... specialists... I've protested budget cuts to vital social programs... I"ve written my State representatives OVER AND OVER talking about the need for Single payer or at least and option for the American people... I NEED TO DO MORE... And I will.... I've just started... NO DOUBT our numbers are our strength.... COME TOGETHER!!

@funkyflights now we agree. So, my next question is, "what are YOU going to do about it?". Too many arm-chair quarterbacks typing angry words. What have YOU done about this? I work in healthcare and have volunteered, sat on boards, educated people, etc. What have YOU done "bro"?

Dude what ? Your missing something .... USA's health care system has a middle man called private insurance AND THERE THE ONES taking the money bro.... WE could easily implement a system that eliminates that middle man and puts the money where it belongs to the doctors and people who care for us.... We have good doctors and great technology but we have a bad system in place... THAT"S our problem...
