Congressman Nadler talks with Lou Dobbs and former State Department official David Seminara about immigration equality and H.R. 1024, the Uniting American Families Act.

Mr. Nadler has re-introduced H.R. 1024 which would allow lesbian and gay Americans to sponsor their permanent partners for legal residency in the United States, a right enjoyed only by married heterosexuals under current immigration law.

  • What is wrong with the United States of America? Have they not learned from their history that discrimination is WRONG. All men and women are created equal. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

  • bottom line...The US is DISCRIMINATORY on gays and lesbians REGARDLESS.....seminara is a gay hater...separate church from state...isn't that what america is about....TOTAL HYPOCRISY...BLATANT

  • So confusing. Let me get this straight. The homophobes are not content with people asking for equal rights on marriage because marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman. This bill, being a totally separate issue in the sense that it does not define same sex partnership as marriage but will unite American families, is also going against their family values? I do not see the clear connection other than they just hate hate hate gay people for some obscure and obsolete reasons.

  • My partner and I are caught up in all of this. If the law was the same for gay people, I would be in the states right now living with my partner and helping her support her 4 children. It is pure discrimination. I don't understand why in some states you can get a civil union but those rights don't include immigration rights. I don't understand the reason. Yes you can be married, but you can't have the same immigration rights as straight couples. It is pathetic.

  • chirstians? Made by Gob?

  • We have a lot of leftist drones below....

Apart from that I'd like to point out that if actual marriage was not required for homosexuals but remained a requirement for heterosexual taht would constitute a discrimination.

And if the heterosexuals could be unmarried couples and still get green cards.... Well, what would that cause? Massive fraud.

"... unless tis is necessery". And in this case it is, currently.

Civil unions with legal entanglement equal to mmarriage are the way to go.

  • This country was built by chirstians that were fleein from the catholics that were killing them... there for this country was made by Gob and he made it the most powerful and wealthiest in the world. Now this country is taking God out of everything and for that this country has not seen what is going to happend to it... Read the bible all this that is happening now is on there and because everyone wants to go around his word to try to make things seem ok, this country will pay the price...

  • Thank You Congressman Nadler. It is just down right cruel to keep loving partners apart. How would any hedrosexual even know what it is like to be in that position? What is it hurting them for me to be with my partner. If they don't want to pass the UAFA bill because of fraud then why don't they also take away the right for hedrosexual binational couples? Makes sense to me. OR Shall we just stop being descriminatory and pass the bill already!!! It's loooooooooong overdue already!!!

  • Im in a binominal relationship (8 years) and we are married in Canada. The only thing that the Republican Party can say is fraud. They have nothing else to say. All of a sudden if they where that worried about fraud why didnt they say something before it became a gay issue? As for the Bishops if they want to make policy in this country or open there mouths then they should be paying taxes to. What happened to separation of state and church?

    Roy B.
