Gary Motley, director of Emory's Jazz Studies Program, shows how he uses his "Smart Classroom" (SmartBoard with digital recording techology) to teach students traditional jazz in slightly nontraditional ways.

Gary Motley is recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Great American Jazz Piano Competition, and the American Composers Forum. He has also been featured in Downbeat Magazine and on Piano Jazz with Marian McPartland. His recording credits range from Russell Malones Black Butterfly to his most recent recording, Renaissance: a Tribute to Oscar Peterson. He has performed with Benny Golson, Eddie Daniels, Carmen Bradford, Kenny Barron, Dave Brubeck and others.
