  • The root of this issue lies with NTUC taking a "co-operative" line with employers. The de-facto minimum wage is way to low to ensure the lowest paid can live a normal life. Even if inflation were brought down, the people at the bottom still couldn't get by. Singapore needs an official, legal national minimum wage, and one that is pegged to inflation. On a crowded island, lower growth, a narrower divide and social stability is better than high growth, high divide, and civil unrest.

  • To seek financial help one has to fill up forms and interviews only to receive a meager amount. High living standard as 1k is not enough to survive for single not to mention married with kids.

  • OMG the poster with LKY face is so funny

  • Higher taxes for people who have more ..And lower for them who have little. The shitty American system does not work in the long run. Look at countries like Norway which is as rich as singapore but the average citizen has a much better life.

  • @crazyguy200705 The hands that gives is above is the hand that takes. Guess who's doing the giving?

  • @duperman172 Hey, the day Singaporeans traded most of their civil liberties for economic well-being was the day COMPULSORY NS became the norm. What did you expect from a government that wields that much power? Power corrupts. Research Ron Paul.

  • @fj1764 Sg isn't USA. The race card won't work in Sg =P

  • @cosmicking69 Scholars aka. academics don't create the jobs. The private sector does.

  • @iTehTunePawd So basically, you're in the same place your father was.

  • @96501950 Marriage doesn't necessarily equate children.
