City Sweat (Original)
Out there in the dusty corner,
desolation and a cigarette,
love a faceless memory, a foreigner,
eyes wide open, grimy sweat.
Meet my friend, says his name was Joe,
says 'love is like an old wet dog',
and 'never buy a girl if you can rent a hoe',
and 'the city kills her flowers with her smog.'
Chorus:
Exhaustion is a noisy corner of your street
and there's no rain in sight to cool off the heat
I'm shrinking like a burnin' cigarette!
When stuff in the air makes your skin gritty,
they call it city sweat.
City sweat, can you feel the city sweat...sizzling city sweat...
Tired workers pass us by
and the sidewalks stink.
Where love is just a blow job in a car,
the city fries us good and makes us shrink.
Where emptiness is a place full of people
living fast and dying soon
under smoke wafting in the heights on sticky nights
like misty rivers to the moon.
(Chorus)
Very nice song and performance !

Usually summer songs are so upbeat, but this one speaks to the kind of summer I've had very well. Great song, Dirk!

@ukeyermind Thank you Shawn! There were some summer days this year that made me feel this way. I think heat is more bearable when you're outdoors and/or near a river, lake or ocean... when hot air stands still in the city it can be so depressing!
