Video showing a behaviour problem or bug related to the saving of apps' icons ordering in multiple screens.

I'm using Android 2.3.4 XWIK4 with baseband XXKI1.

Problem: 5 screens were classified into some folders and some icons, occupying only 2 screens. Saved the edits and powered down the phone. When I powered it on, the icons were completely out of order, they weren't as I left them, occupying three screens instead of the two as I wanted. Now I don't know what to put to where in order to stop the phone from reordering apps at will.

Note that the two pages organization is what I had when I noticed this problem. Spending time in creating lots of folders and put apps in them and organizing alphabetically the icons to find that after doing a power off-on cycle the screens are all screwed, is not funny. I have written a post in my blog, it's in spanish but Google Translator should do a good job: http://retreteinformatico.blogspot.com/2012/01/touchwiz-40-y-problemas-con-la...

Feel free to comment and follow me on twitter too.

There's also a problem with the reordering of icons between folders. It's nearly impossible to get the folders being moved away to put an icon in the empty space. It justs defaults to adding the icon to the nearest folder.

Sound score:
Presentation: Spring RV 269 E-DUR, allegro. Antonio Vivaldi.
Bad behaviour unleashing: Carmina Burana, Fortuna imperatrix mundi o fortuna. Carl Orff.
Ending: Simphonie NR. 40 KV 550 G-Moll, molto allegro. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Ah, sorry for the white color balance. I haven't had much time with this camcorder so that's why you may see the screen or the icons too pale. Also the video was recorded at 1080/50i instead of 1080/50p due to space purposes, so it make look a little blurry because the deinterlacing and framerate resampling for YouTube adaptation.

  • I have partially solved the problem by clearing the cache of TouchWiz launcher.

Now the SIM service app keeps going back to the same place out of its folder, but I refuse to clear again the cache and organize all my apps. Maybe it's because that depends on what SIM you have inserted and TouchWiz/Android generates the app afterwards putting it wherever it decides it's appropiate.

    This is crap.

  • I've published some annotations I forgot.
