Now why didn't Sesame Street do something like this for it's 40th anniversary (yeah I know it was done at the daytime emmys but they only did it by Decade)
-
I remember watching from 1983 to about 1991

84-88/89 were my Sesame Street years.Saw the show for the first time in years recently and its almost a totally different show as far as format goes and TBH ,not only are some of the new "muppets" pretty lame by comaprison to the old school ones, but Elmo seems to be a big focus rather than Big Bird.
Cookie Monster is still awesome though.

I first saw this video a couple of years ago, and it's only now I'm realizing that the clip from 2001 must have been meant to convey the September 11 tragedy to children.

@histrion2 well the original is from 1969. this is the remake.

Pretty sure "I Love Trash" predates 1991 by quite a few years - but couldn't tell you when it originally aired.

@kitty6837 I didn't even notice! :D Good catch! Where's the HDTV one? Oh yeah 2004. Let's get those in!

@brianklick: Mr. Hooper's Death was an ACTUAL episode. Jim Henson's death was an off-set tribute with a small disclaimer the day he died.
