The sad part is that we, Americans do not believe that our leaders can or will commit felony crimes like torture. There is no doubt in my mind that George W Bush or R. Cheney could have put a gun to the head of a prisoner and killed him on live TV and we, the American would still have not done anything to them for having done so. No 9-11 investigation, no war crimes investigation. They are protected by we, the American people and allowed to walk free and claim that other countries are evil.

EasyEs if you believe that you do not have the capacity to gain information by using creative intellectual means than you will think you need to use torture. This administration is lacking in brain power so they think everyone is. The truth is there are very powerful ways of obtaining more accurate information without the use of torture. Torture is a tactic for the feeble minded.

Common people don't want war. It is the leaders who determine the policy,

and it is always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy,

or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no

voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.

Simply tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack

of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.
