Pelco's Sarix Megapixel Camera

At ASIS 2008, Pelco introduced their new Sarix Megapixel IP Camera line. This video gives a great overview of the technology due to be released around ISC-West, 2009. This was an intro video produced over 11 months ago and now that the Sarix platform is out you should get your hands on a demo and test it. Camera lives up to it's promise! Excellent color and low light capabilities. I'm sure Pelco has more videos being produced with the kind of demo clips you mentioned so stay tuned if you care.

This cracks me up - they're talk about better color and high resolution but you don't see any ACTUAL footage - this is rubbish marketing!

Why? A mega-pixel camera can run at 30 ips and stil use only 2Mbps when using H.264 high profile compression. That's entirely doable on today's networks. At that bit rate, the video quality is good. Just don't use MJPEG compression.
