I've already given a rough explination:

Anthony mistakes Katia as his former lover, Sofia. Katia explains that she is the grand child of him and Sofia. He goes insane with disbelief and ends up destroying the castle.

In the end (I didnt upload this yet), The Devil's Box contains a picture of Anthony and Sophia from the night they danced, and a note explaining everything.

I think the 'Sophia' he met was a spirit, or flashback.

Katia is probably Layton's age; maybe a bit younger.

@rila I agree that this voice fits his appearance better, but I loved his english voice. Mostly because it made me laugh. A guy who looks like Anton (ie, easily mistaken for a girl) should NOT have such a deep manly man voice.
