In the weekly Republican address, Carly Fiorina, former CEO of HP, describes how she was diagnosed with and beat breast cancer.

She explains why the recent recommendation on mammograms from a government-run panel was so troubling, especially because costs were a significant factor in the decision.

She points out, "The health care bill now being debated in the Senate explicitly empowers this very task force to influence future coverage and preventive care."

She wonders, under the Democrat health bill, "Will a bureaucrat determine that my life isn't worth saving?"

"Do we really want government bureaucrats, rather than doctors, dictating how we prevent and treat something like breast cancer?" she asks.

  • Thanks Carly Fiorina for standing up for the rights of women and men specially in healthcare. A moving and inspirational video.

I cannot imagine anyone deceived enough, and politically charged enough, to support giving politicans the right to decide whether you should live or not. The govt panels trying to cut costs by killing off patients for cost savings is a shocking eye opener. Who are they to decide whether you should get a mammogram? Don't give politicians your rights to life or death.

  • CARLY FOR CALIFORNIA!

  • Thank goodness this whore lost.

  • Carly FEAR-IONA is selling FEAR

  • Does she remember that she found her lump Right After A Clean Mammogram? What is wrong with this picture? MONEY is what's wrong. Shame on the insurance companies for buying such a cheap shot at me, my family, and our inability to obtain insurance being unemployed. now WE get to die sooner becaues of you and your insurance $ colaborators influence.

  • I am glad she is going to survive. HOWEVER - I am appalled that she would agree to such a moving speech, clearly meant to defeat health care reform. Did she have insurance? Was she unemployed when she found out and had to go look for insurance? Does she know what her outcome would have been if that were the case? Not good. Does she know what the insurance companies would have done for her in that case? Nothing!

  • First you earned my sympathy because of your encounter with cancer as I have...

Then you are trying to exploit that sympathy in order to push the republican agenda. I ask

    1) why did you not advance health care reform when your party was in control of congress and white house

    2) why Are you not in support of the "public option" ?

    3) how many of the women that die every year die because do not have the type of insurance you have if any?

  • Mammograms arent perfect; a different technician/radiologist may have caught it. My ductal cancer (no lump) was found with a mammogram at age 48 and saved my life. I dont want a government task force/panel (which did not include breast cancer specialist) dictating my health care.
