Praying Mantis vs Hummingbird

This praying mantis sat on the hummingbird feeder for 24 hours waiting for a hummingbird to get close enough to catch. I decided to set up the video camera to see what I could get on film. It appears the praying mantis was successful, but I do not have video of the aftermath. This will have to do.

So you want a human to steal a bug's food just because you don't like the fact that the bug has to eat or it dies? Get over it and seriously get out of your house if you feel that way. There's a big difference between something needing to kill to survive and a man made car hitting an animal/human too. There's also a difference in animal rights and just being flat out ignorant.

This is nothing more than disaster porn. Half of the people commenting sound like they'd pay to see pit bulls fight. I guess it's ok now, everyone got their quick fix. I just love to see some of these pretend to love nature types would behave if they seen a bear, or a crocodile or, some kind of deadly snake. They wouldn't waste a second to get out of there. No other animal will go to the extremes humans will go to in order to defend their own bullshit actions.

How did the mantis get onto the humming bird feeder...did you place it there for the for the sake of the video? It sure looks like you did. Humming birds are beautiful. So are praying mantis, but not when you stage stuff for a 50 sec video.

This video was not staged. I have hummingbird feeders all up and down my porch. The praying mantis got up there on its own. When I saw it, I set up my video camera and recorded for almost TWO days. We live in the country. Every species has a predator. It's called the circle of life.
