Benedict XVI: Take care of the sick

The Pope reaffirms the value of human life, which needs to be protected and safeguarded from conception to natural death. Benedict XVI addressed the sick and their families at the end of a mass celebrated at St. Peter's Basilica on the occasion of the World Day of the Sick. The Eucharist was concelebrated by Cardinal Lozano Barragan, President of the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Assistance to Health Care Workers, and by Cardinal Agostino Vallini, President of Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi (the office of pilgrimages).
