I used to love sitting in the Satellite restaurant at Kingsley Field as a kid watching the jets take off from just outside the window. One time a few harriers took off while we were having breakfast. They didn't take off vertical, but damn they're a loud jet. I used to ride my bike to the air base and pester the people working there. One guy let me on a C-130 fire tanker one time. Oh, the good 'ol days :)
