@whistler493 Tony Pitt was with Alex from 1961 to 1963 on banjo and guitar. You can hear him with Alex on " Echoes of Chicago" Lake records LACD215.

Not sure about Tony Pitt, the name does not ring a bell.
Try Alex Welsh and Friends, recently available on itunes. Includes Roy Crimmins, Archie Semple, Diz Disley, Harry Gold, Beryl Bryden and George Chisholm. Absolute gold.

The 100 Club was my 2nd home back in the early sixties. You could get up close and personal with the bands then, I used to sit on the edge of the tiny stage. I loved the Alex Welsh style of playing, wasn't Tony Pitt a band member? It was nothing unusual to pop round to the pub with all the guys during their break it was all very friendly and informal.
I also loved the Bob Wallis Band.

Roy Crimmons on trombone and Al Gay on tenor. The best ever British traditional/mainstream band bar none.

Da bass player is Ron Matthewson (local dialect used seeing as he hailed from Shetland)
