Academy Award Winner Jennifer Hudson on Secret Life of Bees

Hudson has been serving up major style lately on the red carpet for several screenings in Toronto, Washington DC and Beverly Hills not long after performing at the Democratic National Convention for Barack Obama, per his request, thank you. Obama loves 'em thick we hear. Between releasing her self-titled debut CD, becoming engaged (remember reality star Punk from I Love New York? Yeah, that big, beefy lawyer dude from Harvard) and promoting the movie, she has been one busy chick so we were flattered she shared her upcoming plans including jumping the delebrity (designer celebrity) bandwagon and release a clothing line.

You wear an amazing selection of dresses on the red carpet. The gold Lanvin dress you wore at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival was stunning! Do you handle some of your own personal shopping?

Sometimes I do. I trust the stylist usually but when I do have the time I do like to get out and look for my own things. I like Donna Karan, Gucci, Prada, so many I can't think of any others at the moment 'cause there's so many!

You wore a $36 American Apparel dress on your album cover. Was that intentional?

I can't say it was intentional. I just love shopping. I have a mode that if I wear it must be fierce! I'm not a price person like 'oh it has to be this expensive to be hot,' it's not about that. You might find me in Saks Fifth Avenue one minute, the next day in Target or American Apparel. I'm for all designers, all styles, price points, everything.
