(Re-Run) On This Day, 7/14/2008, AFSCME 3299 launched a 5-day UC Service Workers Strike for a better contract, which guarantees a higher minimum wage for the low-waged workers; a steps-system that rewards workers' years of service credit and seniority that goes with it; and protection of pension and health benefits coverages; among other demands. UC regents eventually, subdued by the Power of The Workers & Their Union AFSCME 3299, signed the contractual agreement to basically ALL Demands proposed by The Union & The Workers in early February of 2009.
