@Rovahead Yes if they moved either side of the wires too far they could dewire There are batteries charged up from the wires which have a limited amount of power but enough to get them back under the wires again

Could these things run out of reach of the wires? And how'd you get them back within reach if they do?

As the caption says the driver badly positioned the vehicle, turning the corner on a radius less than the radius of the overhead wires, the correct proceedure would be for the vehicle to take a radius (curve) slightly greater than the overhead wiring. Losing contact with the wires can occur for several reasons ... defective overhead, badly positioned vehicle, excessive speed through a junction in the overhead wiring.
