  • I had to do this scene for Theatre at school. This video would have helped so much! I wish I would have found it sooner. This is amazing! I adore her accents and transitions of emotions. :)

  • Omg, I adore her!

  • KLINGON!!!

  • @Dtisfit No, no. I mean the GRIEF is what's making her quirky. People who so truly miserable can laugh desperately over the strangest things, because everything is so unbearable and they need to smile.

The madness she experience was probably born of this though, because she wasn't dealing with her feelings properly and was probably dealing with it alone. It's also likely that if people thought her mad, she'd become mad simply due to the label. (It happens)

  • @RainAndKisses Not sure I'm totally convinced by that. I don't think people who are genuinely suffering from madness set out to be 'a bit quirky.' I mean, performing a mad scene as an actor is always tricky, because they can, in theory, do anything. They've no need to justify or apply logic to an audience. But, imo, that's wrong. Those affected by madness still feel as though they're being logical in their mind. But, this performance is tailored..it isn't natural. It's TRYING to be quirky.

  • @Dtisfit By becoming mad, and acting a bit quirky. Because they hurt so badly inside they become desperate to smile, so they behave in an eccentric manner out of that desperation. It stops them from really facing the sadness, but in the case of Ophelia she just appears mad. Then again, in that period her behaviour would probably have been condemned as madness anyway.

  • @RainAndKisses Some people react to grief in what way?..By pretending to be mad, is that what you mean? I personally do think Hamlet is feigning madness, definitely. I'm unsure about Ophelia though, I have thought sometimes that she's perhaps the only character who does genuinely lose her sanity in the entire play.

  • @Dtisfit Some people react to grief that way out of desperation...

  • she makes me laugh.
