Happy Memorial Day...or Weekend, whatever you want to call it. While a surf between

Apocalypse Now Redux and Start Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, I'm going to post the last

video of our trip out to the Elm Fork Public Range down in Dallas, TX, which is off

Luna Rd.

After my good friend and I fired our WASR-10s and the Tokarev TTC, he had to leave

and take care of some other business. I stayed behind to FINALLY test out my new

baby: the Springfield 1903A3, from AIMSurplus. This beauty is ALMOST the best

shooter I ever owned...I say almost only because my M-1 Garand seems to be slightly

better at 100 yards, but I think that's more attributable to user error and such.

Sighting this Springfield is a bit difficult if you have a black background, so I put

big orange circles on the targets to make it easier to see.

And as you can see from these videos, it makes a big difference! This gun seems to

be shooting way to the right starting out, so I had to adjust the rear sight...in

fact, I had to turn it quite a bit, almost to the furthest edge, which is a bit

disconcerting. Nevertheless, I finally got it sighted in as best I could at 30

yards. And given the lack of wind and other variables, it seems to be just right

now! Or so I thought, but those videos from GPSR will be coming up shortly.

Enjoy this video, we'll have 2-3 more from GPSR, then probably 2 more from Quail

Creek Range. That should put us very close to 99 episodes. Good news is that there

WILL BE A CONTEST in honor of reaching 100 episodes! It's only a question now what

the contest will be, and prizes to be given. Stay tuned! And enjoy Metallica's "Seek and Destroy!"

  • I'm a little confused by you response. You said at the end that now you rely on aimsurplus because you don't like century arms but doens't century arms get the stuff for aimsurplus?

  • @fishblade2 No, Century Arms is the IMPORTER...they also sell direct, but their prices are higher than what you see going thru the DEALERS like AIMSurplus. The DEALERS buy their stuff from the IMPORTERS, and they buy such huge volumes that it allows them to sell data at lower prices.

I've bought stuff from AIMSurplus that has come from 2-3 different importers...CAI is just one of them.

  • is this gun made by century arms or aimsurplus? Is it a really good gun because I have never heard of aimsurplus.

  • @fishblade2 Neither...it's a Gibbs Rifle, which is renown for it's quality/accuracy. AIMSurplus is just a firearm dealer/distributor, whereas Century Arms is technically an importer...in fact, I really don't like CAI as a dealer, their rates really aren't that great. Only advantage is that sometimes they get items you can't find anywhere else, like M38s and M44s, but that was 2 years ago...since then, I rely on AIMSurplus and Southern OH Gun more than anyone else.

And yes, it's a GREAT GUN!

  • did you say the range only lets you on the 100y lanes if you have a scope? btw nice shooting on those 30y targets

  • @dizzyman67 YES, and it's a real pain in the ass...so much so that I don't plan to go their much, not until they at least get a 50 yard range. Tnx for the props!

  • cooal

  • The best videos & gun.

  • Looks like really got a nice one. The 03A3 are very accurate rifles. Easily makes 1/2" or better groups at 100 yds. Beautiful rifle and excellent video.

  • @Okaym0053 Metallica's "Seek and Destroy" I played this with one of the first shooting vids of the M-1 last year...and yeah yeah, I'll think about an SKS, after I get a Glock...and A Walter P38...and a Rock Island 1911...
