I don't care if you're a Knicks fan, or not, and I don't care if you didn't like some of Starks's antics on the court, if you loved anything about basketball, you LOVED this man's passion, and desire.

Starks gave his heart, and guts EVERY single night. He is my all time favorite player. I loved this man's toughness, passion, and fire. The NBA NEEDS more players like this.

The Knicks NEED to retire #3 and hang it right next #33!

I think Sprewell was just draft 15, JR 18? (in different drafts of course), but they both played with the same reckless abandon; and came both from spotty records. It's starting to get that talking about Sprewell is almost taboo now in NBA circles because of all the bad he's done during his career and after his career ended.

Sprewell and J.R could both hurt you in the same places, I think they were even picked around the same places as well. The only difference is one was a start his whole career; the latter; well, that's yet to be determined.

They also have extremely similar track records too. The Starks comparison were only forced because later in his career as his knee injuries slowed him down he was forced to the bench. But he started for a good 2-3 years prior.

Are you kidding? JRs game is nothing like Spree, and no where near the caliber of player, that statement was blasphemous. JR is a primarily a Shooter/slasher where Spree could hurt you anywhere on the floor facing up or posting up slashing or shooting. Spree was considered one of the leagues top finishers in his prime.

Spree = 4 time NBA all star. In 97 Spree averaged 24 points per game right behind players like Jordan, Malone

JR Smith = 6th man of the year (2013)

    LOL!

The Knicks could've used a player like Starks in that Pacers series. They got outworked, out hustled, and outmuscled.

Ewing, Starks, Oakley, Mase! The Riley/Van Gundy Knicks were NEVER out physicaled. They NEEDED a guy like Starks who played with passion, and desire. He played at 150% on EVERY play, on both ends of the court. Unfortunately, we don't have one player like that on the roster. Maybe Shump, but he needs more minutes. Don't know why Woodson sat him after he hit 3 straight 3's.

JR Smith reminds me more of Latrell Sprewell now with a hint of Anthony Mason. They both played with the same reckless abandon and were hostile in their nature. Iman Shumpert reminds me more of Starks because of his smarter playmaking and a bit of Hubert Davis with better defense.

Starks was on fire in Game 6. The 3 point shot was the right call. Olajuwon could've went with Ewing to the hoop, or Ewing could've set a better screen. Olajuwon made one hell of a play that saved his teams ass.

I will take this to my grave when I say had Olajuwon not gotten his fingertips on that ball, The Knicks would've been 1993-94 NBA Champions. That ball was going in. Starks shot it in rhythm, and had his shoulders sqaured. He had a GREAT look, Olajuwon made a GREATER play.

Watch the first game of basketball and Starks gave the 3 3point shoots in the row to keept the Knicks alive. He had passion and drive. I was never dull watching him play. Got to shake hands with him last week. Wish I told him what an inspiration he had been to me
