For those of you who have asked for some more advanced features I am going to break down the Motorway Video into segments of how I did each aspect. If your not into the tutorials turn away now, this is long winded but I think clear enough to understand.

For this first video I go over how I did the car lights which you see throughout the video. I explain how to use anchoring, part of the event pan crop feature, and go into depth with using the light rays effect.

It's important to know that I credit montagical for his tutorial on anchoring. I had never used the feature prior to this video and trust me when I say it is one of the most useful tools availible. Sadly, not all versions of vegas support masking/anchor but if yours does it's worth watching.

Paying it forward,

  • Where can I find the timeline by Light Rays at Sony Vegas 8 ?

  • I'm not sure I understand the question but if my guess is right you are looking for the timeline bar that you see in the tutorial. It's probaly just minimize in your Vegas. You can either set the layout back to default which will reset it so you can see it or goto the bottom of the effect screen and try to drag it upward.

  • The masking is different on 8, i'm still trying to figure it out, any help would be great

  • Unfortunately I haven't upgraded to 8 yet. The differences are minor as I understand. I recommend you message montagical though because he is using 8 and he is a wiz with the software.

  • Hey well done tutorial helped me with one of my projects. However, there is one effect tutorial I cant find is the water ripple effect.

  • Although Vegas doesn't have a water ripple effect I think it could be done. You would have to alternate the pinch/punch effect and apply it multiple times (just a theory of how though). There are some 3rd party software options out there that add into Vegas which may have the ripple effect, but I'm not sure.

    Thanks for the great comment.

  • I'm not clear what you are referring too. Is it something you see in this video?

  • Which effect is fading in/out? Please respond.

  • Wow, thanks.

  • Thanks RoyElvisBand.
