Hotel Rwanda is a 2004 historical drama film about the hotelier Paul Rusesabagina (played by Don Cheadle) during the Rwandan Genocide of 1994. The film, which has been called an African Schindler's List,[1] documents Rusesabagina's acts to save the lives of his family and more than a thousand other refugees, by granting them shelter in the besieged Hôtel des Mille Collines. Directed by Terry George, the film was co-produced by US, British, Italian, and South African companies, with filming done on location in Johannesburg, South Africa and Kigali, Rwanda.[2] As an independent film, it had an initial limited release in theaters, but was nominated for multiple awards, including Academy Award nominations for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Original Screenplay. It continues to be one of the mostrented films on services, such as Netflix[citation needed], and is listed by the American Film Institute as one of the 100 most inspirational movies of all time.

  • 4:51 : Oh no!!! My Teddy bear!! You filthy animal!! :(

  • @reneealexis1203 The Interhamwe treated the massacres like a celebration, hence the bright clothing and the wig. It was, in their minds, a joyous occasion because Rwanda was being cleaned of the cockroaches and it would return to being a Hutu land.

  • Thank you for uploading this movie

  • i would have never thought that a man wearing a purple wig would be scary

  • @dekippiesip but in europe is was german soldiers killing the jews or the americans killed the indians but 10 year old boys were doing this, look in south africa the whites are being killed now, after the world told them vote for equallity theres nothing to be afraid of,there was a lot to be afraid of the anc are a terrorists winny mandella a murderer who puts burning tyres around peoples knecks gadaffi murders his own people they stop him mugabe does they say nothing, the world is fucked i think.

  • @september7891 That is true. Europeans or Japanese for example didn't do this in the open. They tried to conceal their murders as good as they could and deny them. In Africa they are more open about it. I don't know what is worse. Trying to hide your crimes in concentration camps or just randomly killing on the street.

  • @Ametheyes If you put an African in Europe they probably won't see if your a German, a slav, a jew, or someone from Souther Europe. However we are able to see this differences. To us all Africans may look the same, but they can distinguish tribes from each other. Some may be genarally shorter, less dark skinned, have bigger noses, etc and that is how they can see that.

  • how can they distinguish whos the "coachroach" and who isnt?

  • @falalalalalification me too i don,t understand why they did,nt fire unless the hotel might been attacked but it is hard to understand how blacks can be so evil to eachother i mean whites kill sometimes but not like that, german and japanese soldiers did but not the public.

  • Even under the mandate that the UN peacekeepers were not to engage the interhamwe, not to fire unless fired upon.....I don't see why it became known that the hutu extremists had kidnapped and executed their men why they didn't use that as a premise to change the mandate? That to me is what I never understood.

  • @Marc3c Yeah it's sad but it's true that it's what happens, people will think OMG that is horrible but unless it has something to do with their own lives most will just go about their day... I didn't even know about this event until about 3 years ago (I wasn't born yet when this began and was only a month or so old when it ended.) when I took AP human geography, my teacher showed us this movie... it is truly terrible... I don't see how people could be like that, not for the reason they were!

  • I'm ashamed to admit it but the truth is that when I saw the news of the Rwandan genocide on the news back in '94 I said, "oh my God, that's horrible"... and then I went on eating my dinner,
