I'm glad you your class was able to have a more in-depth discussion about the emancipation of slaves in the US. This footage recognized the pros and the cons of Lincolns actions.
There is a piece of Lincolns message that was left out which I find pretty significant. If the south had rejoined the Union, they would have been able to keep their slaves. The emancipation proclamation was only an ultimatum to keep his union together.
