nice work... looks like these thing are needed when u reach a certain point with your DSLR, however, wondering why these things run as much as a Canon 5dmk2 ($3,000)? But they seem to be made the best and best of all made in USA making me smile from ear to ear!

Henri Cartier Bresson si starà rivoltando nella tomba. i migliori fotografi della storia se la cavavano benone anche con una semplice fotocamera con mirino galileiano. tutta questa roba è utile solo ai "premi bottoni" che a quest'ora staranno sbavando come un san bernardo...manca solo che si crea una trincea e una rete militare per il camuffaggio, ed è perfetto!

those rigs will soon be a thing of the past. They came about wit the vid revolution in 35 mm cameras, but now that panasonic is releasing the ag af 100/101 video camera, which competes price wise ( well..sort of ) the average bloke will be able to shoulder mount a vid camera or place it on a tripod in the traditional fashion, and have interchangable lenses . Other brands will follow

The rigs for the 35 m will still be good for studio stuff, but that's it

Can you do a video on getting the lens and follow focus to mesh up with each other? That bit looks the most fiddly, and I don't even know if you adjust the body position or wheel position. Lens changes on the set look fiddly too. Thanks Mark.

@morrod It's a glorified lens hood plus a filter holder. Video lens makers (pretty much exclusively Zeiss for DSLRs) go to great lengths to give their lenses consistent colour and transmission, so you can swap lenses out without adjusting video settings. The matte box allows you to change lenses without having to change filters too, so you just put on the new lens, dial up the T-stop (video equivalent of F-stop), and you're good to go.
