This video represents my third contribution to Bear McCreary's new YouTube Channel, (http://www.youtube.com/bearmccreary), and a hopeful contender in his summer competition for creative uses of the Battlestar Galactica Songbook, (http://www.bearmccreary.com/blog/?p=6655). As far as I know, it is currently the only complete, isolated piano recording of Bear's pivotal musical reveal in the Season 4.5 episode "Someone to Watch Over Me." The obstacle, of course, to recording a piece for four hands is that it requires two, devoted Battlestar fans, each with some proficiency in piano, to be in the same place, at the same time, for an extended period. My solution -- in true, Battlestar style -- was to summon an evolved, Cylon copy of myself to handle Slick's virtuosic accompaniment. Aligning the multiple audio and video tracks for the final composite was a little tricky, but I'm fairly happy with the results, (although those with keen eyes may notice an extra octave I inserted into the piano for expediency).
The performance starts out slow, both because I am portraying a character who is experimenting with a piano for the first time in years, and because I wanted to be able to ramp up gradually to a tempo that would be brisk and yet manageable. If you're feeling impatient, I'd suggest jumping ahead to around 2:06, where the main theme emerges.
I hope you enjoy, and thanks for watching!

The collection includes substantial piano arrangements from all four seasons of the show, and it has my highest recommendation for anyone interested in giving the music of Battlestar Galactica new life with their own hands.
Wow! Amazing, work. This is truly awesome. I was going to do a "Kara Remembers" video myself, but now I don't think I could top this one. :)

@bearmccreary I'm honored, Bear; thanks so much for your kind words! Didn't mean to steal your thunder, (nor think that I ever could), but perhaps you and Raya could do an Apocalypse duet instead. I know the lyrics aren't strictly a part of your songbook, but I enjoyed the simplified version of the piece that you two performed at Google, and, well, it doesn't hurt being married to Ms. Voice of Battlestar Galactica herself!
