After clashes between government troops and Shia fighters in northern Yemen, the country's government announced its conditions for a truce on Thursday.

The conditions include the fighters' withdrawal, the removal of their checkpoints and clarification of the fate of kidnapped foreigners.

In addition, the fighters have been asked to refrain from intervening in local authority affairs.

At least 15 people have reportedly been killed since Wednesday when government troops launched an offensive against the fighters in Sadaa province.

Besides the Shia uprising, separatists in southern Yemen are fighting for autonomy and al-Qaeda-linked groups have stepped up attacks across the country.

With unrest on several fronts, does the government need to think about its future? And what is the fallout for the already volatile region?
