Mission:
To bring volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners.

Who we are:
Rebuilding Together South Sound was established in 2001 and is part of the national Rebuilding Together organization. We
are a volunteer, charitable group and repair or rebuild homes at no cost to low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly, disabled or families with children.

RTSS is governed by a 11-member volunteer Board of Directors and is staffed by an Executive Director and two AmeriCorps members. Our affiliate is part of the national Rebuilding Together organization which has 203 affiliates in 43 states. The organization was first known as Christmas in April®, which began in Midland, Texas in 1973 when a group of volunteers decided to devote one day a year to repairing dilapidated homes in their community. The project developed into the nations leading volunteer home repair organization.

Across the country on National Rebuilding Day, over 225,000 volunteers rehab approximately 10,000 houses and non-profit facilities.

How do we do it:
All work is done by volunteers at no cost to the homeowner. Corporations, individuals and other groups can sponsor or donate funds or materials to cover project costs. Please see our 2007 990 Tax Form for any questions.

What we do:
Rebuilding Together South Sound has two programs. Our main program is Rebuilding Day, which takes place on the last weekend in April. Our second program is a year-round modification program. Since RTSS was established in 2002 we have:
· Completed repairs worth more than $2,500,000 at 152 projects,
· Worked with more than 3,500 volunteers,
· Installed 29wheelchair ramps
· Installed 8 walk-in showers
· Installed handrails or grab bars at 53 homes
· Completed 34 roof repairs or replacements
· Completed 46 electrical repairs
· Completed 64 plumbing repairs
· Through donated labor and materials, RTSS is able to expand every dollar raised into at least $4.
